How to help us - in English

Club is asking for help in its campaign for banning the transport of live horses for slaughter.

Animal is not an object. The European campaign against exporting live horses for slaughter.

We ask all animal-lovers to support our campaign. It is very important now, as the lower chamber of the Polish Parliament has started working on the amendments to the "Bill of Animal Protection". We were also informed that a suggestion of introducing a ban on exporting horses was made by the Prime Minister's office to the committee working on the amendments.

We ask everybody to send protest e-mails to the President, the Prime Minister, and the Speaker of the lower chamber of the Polish Parliament. We also ask for interventions in embassies of Poland.

At the same time, Klub Gaja will be lobbying for the amendments concerning the transport of horses, but also on other aspects of the Bill of Animal Protection. All the interventions of yours make our position stronger. Therefore we will appreciate your help very much.

The whole campaign is going to be concluded on May 21st(on that day the European Committee will gather to vote on the Bill) with Gaja's demonstration in front of the House of Parliament. Now we need your help and organized protests in front of embassies of Poland very much.

Dear Sirs and Madams,

We are a Ppolish animal welfare organisation and we would like to ask you for your support in our e-mail campaign against transports of living horses to slaughterhouses.

Every year Poland exports thousands of living horses. The way to  slaughterhouses (most of them are in Italy) is horrible for the animals. They are transported in overloaded trucks and often don't get water and food. Due to these terrible circumstances the horses often hurt  themselves and break their legs. Lots of them die on the way.

Klub Gaja runs a campaign against horse transports since 1999. Many things were achieved but now we have the unique chance to reach the goal. In May and June the Polish Parliament will be working on an 'Animal Welfare' law and is going to discuss the total prohibition of the exports.

We would like to ask you to join our e-mail campaign and write a letter to the:

• Polish president, Aleksander Kwasniewski, listy@prezydent.pl
• the prime minister, Leszek Miller, cirinfo@kprm.gov.pl
• the speaker of the lower chamber of the Polish Parliment, Marek Borowski, marek.borowski@sejm.pl
• and the Polish embassies in your country.

There will be a demonstration against horse transports in Warsaw on the 22nd May in front of the Parliament buildings. It is very important to intensify our campaign around that day.
